The City of Edmonton offers grants to help with winter fun!

Winter 2022-2023 Placemaking Events & Activities

Placemaking events and activities support neighbourhood vibrancy and connection, and winter events are no exception. Communities that play together are stronger!

Neighbourhood Micro-Grants are available for winter events funding requests up to $500.

Neighbourhood Connections Grants are available for winter events funding requests for $501-$2500.

Both grants are open to residents, business owners and operators, and non-profit organizations. Activities must build and increase community connections, as well as engage and involve different people in the neighbourhood(s). Initiatives can include block parties, community arts projects, and neighbourhood social or recreation activities.

Please reach out to your Neighbourhood Resource Coordinator if you have any questions.

Please note that the Neighbourhood Services Ice Surface Grant was available on a one-time basis in 2021. Applications are not being accepted for 2022.

WinterCity Festivals and Events Grant Program

Local winter festivals and events encourage Edmontonians to carry their passion for their city year round. Winter festival and event organizers contribute to changing how we embrace winter by creating experiences that share the magic of an Edmonton winter to both local community members and international visitors.

We recognize that operating outdoor festivals and events in winter can be challenging and that there are higher operational costs because of the season. Please see the WinterCity Festivals and Events Grant Program page for all eligible activities and expenses.

The deadline to apply is February 15, 2023. If funding remains, a second intake will be advertised with a deadline of late summer.
